Summer Class at Ruther E. Esconde School of Multiple Intelligences Inc.

Nyx attended his summer class at REESMI. My decision to send him in this school was because his Ninang teaches there. Since its his first time to attend schooling, I opted for this school. Its also a good practice to research on the method of teaching a school applies so we would know how our child would fair. According to what I have read, multiple intelligence method does not only focus on academics. It also drives a child to tap on his talents in their road to self-discovery. You can read more about it here.

Since its Nyx's first time to attend school, I wanted him to develop his socialization skills first. Academics will soon follow. I wanted him to develop confidence in interacting with kids of his age and I wanted him to have a feel of how school is like. You may read about my post about his First day in Summer class here.

I think this is one of the best decisions I have made in life. Nyx showed a lot of improvement socially. He also perceived schooling positively. He never cried when he attended this summer class. The teachers were very nice and accommodating. Everything was systematic. I paid Php 5000 for this summer class and it was so worth it!

Towards the end of the summer class, the teachers and the students started preparing for a dance and song numbers to be presented in front of the parents. This was held at SM Bacoor, with all the lights and sounds. The students and their talents were shown in the lime light. I was a very proud parent.

This was how the stage looked like:

And this is my adorable kid on stage.

I wanna share with you some pictures of my son while he was dancing in the tune of Fireworks, Little Sunny Water, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Happiness, Hokey Pokey and Gwiyomi Song. :) He participated so well compared with the other kids. He enjoyed being on stage. He was enjoying the performance as we applauded and cheered them up. Whenever we go to SM Bacoor, he would always ask me when he'd dance again on that stage. I must be raising a future star. :)

I wish I can upload the videos here. But I don't know how yet. As soon as I figured out how, I will definitely share them here so Nyx can watch himself dance like he did here in the future! :)

I strongly recommend this school. This school year, due to financial constraints, despite the greatness of the school, we tried out a cheaper school, Erica Learning School, since it's just near our place. It utilizes traditional method of teaching. Nyx was culture-shocked in a way. He was asking me when he'll sing and dance again his favorite songs at REESMI. He kept telling me he wanted to go back to his summer class school. I had to explain he needs to finish one complete school year at Erica Learning Center. Another reason why I chose ELC over REESMI was because it is only a 5-minute walk to our house, whereas, REESMI is 2 rides away from our place. I have to really think hard on where Nyx will study next school year. I also need to save hard, I guess. :)

I will write more about Erica Learning Center on a separate post. :)

Thumbs up to Ruther E. Esconde School of Multiple Intelligences Inc.!

Baguio City, Philippines – DIY Baguio trip

Baguio is known as one of the greatest tourist spots in the country due to its cool, soothing and calming weather. Being a tropical country, a quick getaway to Baguio is definitely a great way to relieve ourselves from the scorching heat especially during summer.

So far, I have gone to 11 out of these 20 places. Those in bold letters are usually the places you can find within the vicinity of Baguio City. Some places our outside the town proper which made it harder for us to include this in our itinerary. If you’d like to visit all these places at one time, you must be prepared to create a week-long itinerary and make sure to check on the weather condition so you can maximize your stay here.

I am including this in my blog because this is part of Nyx’s milestones. I’ve said it many times.. this blog is all about Nyx. In May, we planned a trip to Baguio with Nyx. I’ve been to Baguio more than 20x already and I want Nyx to experience how it feels like to be in a place with such great climate and atmosphere. I studied in University of the Philippines, Baguio a few years back and since then, I loved the place. Actually, that’s an understatement. I adore the place. I was the one who introduced this place to Erick in 2010, and since then, Erick has travelled back and forth to this place many times too. I want Nyx to love the place too. Someday, Erick and I dream to move there permanently. I wish everything falls into place.. in time.

I was never fond of travelling. I started to like the idea of travelling when I started reading travel blogs. I owe a lot of my travels to a lot of travel bloggers out here in the blogosphere. So I feel any information I can share about my travels and future travels will definitely help anyone who drops by this blog. So I’d like to share my Baguio travel experience on a separate blog post. I hope it can help. :)

More to come!

FIRST in a playhouse - Austin land SM Bacoor

Hi!

It was Nyx's first time in a playhouse. By playhouse, I mean.. ung ganito - a venue where Nyx mingled with a bunch of kids na hindi nya kilala. This was 3 months ago na din.. Ang tagal na nito sa drafts ko.. I forgot how much we paid na.. What I remember the most is this was the primary reason why I enrolled him in summer class. He wasn't interacting with kids kasi during this time.. Gusto nya sya lang nagpplay sa isang play area..

When he started schooling.. his socialization skills improved a lot..

Nagpapicture lang kami dito kasi wala kaming shot sa SM Austin land.. :)

The amenities were nice. I think we paid some Php 120 for the 30-minute play... Everyone was required to wear socks for hygienic purposes.. So I suggest you bring socks na lang kasi they sell socks for Php 100.00 per pair (too pricey!).. Photos of guardian were taken upon entrance for the child's security...

Overall, it was a fun experience!

Nyx loved it!

DIY Angry birds Name Tag and Notebook tags

Hi!

I hope mothers out there can find this useful!
Its Nyx's first day in Nursery class on Monday, June 10th..
I spent hours looking for printable name tags all over the net and I found it really hard to customize it.

So..

I thought of creating my own name tag and notebook tags for Nyx!

Nyx is so obsessed with Angry birds so this is what I mainly used as a theme.

Here's how I did it:

  1. Go to www.google.com
  2. Select "Image"
  3. Type "angry birds background" on the Search box
  4. Select preferred image
  5. Save "Image"
  6. Open Microsoft Word 2010
  7. On "Insert" tab, select "Picture"
  8. Click your preferred image
  9. Drag the image on your desired location
  10. Right click the image
  11. Select "Wrap Text"
  12. Click "Behind Text"
  13. Then type in your child's name. Position it on the desired location by dragging the image.
  14. Save image

This was may end-result!
For mom's who are not so techie like me..
You may find these very simple steps useful.. :)
I'll have it printed in stickers and I'm so sure Nyx will love it!

Let's make our kids' school days fun and memorable! :)
